Top Ten Tuesday - Health Appointments
I was going to write a more personal post about some events that have occurred recently but I am not ready to do that apparently, so here is a boring post about all the various doctors my family has seen in the past 12 months.
- My PCP for fibromyalgia, IBS, polyneuropathy, and transient global amnesia.
- Pediatrician for infections, potty training (foster daughter doesn't use bathroom properly), annual physicals, immunizations, etc.
- Pediatric Dentist for regular dental care and check-ups.
- Cardiologist for baseline checkup but found out Renee has ASD due to her mother drinking -- cough syrup -- during the pregnancy.
- Neurologist for baseline check up because Renee has some strange behaviors -- starring, tremors, petting, purpling of feet, brushing off things that aren't thee. We found out that Renee has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (which I already knew).
- Orthopedic Doctor since Cassandra had broken her wrist after falling off her bike last summer. Cassandra has a crush on the P.A. Jason. Its so cute how she gets all "tongue-tied" when he enters the room. : )
- Mobile Therapist for Cameron and Renee. The nice thing is they both come to the house to provide their therapeutic services for the kids.
- Otolaryngologist due to Renee having chronic strep throat -- 5 infections in eight months. Her tonsils and adenoids were remove in December 2008.
- Psychiatrist for Cameron and Renee so they can get the medications they need to live a "normal" and happy life as best they can.
- Psychiatrist for me so I can get medication for my bipolar, depression, and anxiety so that I can "be available" as a parent for my children.

40 Tips for a Better Life in 2008
- Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
- Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have to.
- Buy a DVR and tape your late night shows and get more sleep.
- When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to _____ today.'
- Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
- Play more games and read more books than you did in 2007.
- Make time to practice meditation and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives. (Meditation can mean a variety of things to different people.)
- Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.
- Dream more while you are awake.
- Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
- Drink green tea and plenty of water.
- Try to make at least three people smile each day.
- Clear clutter from your house, your car, and your desk. This will let new and flowing energy into your life.
- Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, issues of the past, negative thoughts, or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive, present moment.
- Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
- Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed-out charge card.
- Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
- Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
- Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
- Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
- You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
- Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
- Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
- No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
- Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will this matter?'
- Forgive everyone for everything.
- What other people think of you is none of your business.
- God heals almost everything.
- However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
- Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
- Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful, or joyful.
- Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
- The best is yet to come.
- No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.
- Do the right thing!
- Call your family often. (Or email them to death!)
- Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: 'I am thankful for _____. Today I accomplished _____.'
- Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
- Enjoy the ride. Remember this is not Disney World and you certainly don't want a fast pass. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy the ride.
- Prayer works!
This list was adapted from a list my friend, Teresa, shared with me.
Basic Guidelines for Bloggers
The following tips are a good place to start for kids interested in blogging, although by no means comprehensive. It's a good idea for parents to add more guidelines to suit their family's particular needs. Start by telling kids that they should:
(1.) Never offer any personal information including your last name, contact information, home address, phone numbers, school's name, e-mail address, last names of friends or relatives, instant messaging names, age, or birth date.
(2.) Never post provocative pictures of yourself or anyone else, and be sure any images you provide do not reveal any of the previously mentioned information. Always remember to look at the background of a picture too.
(3.) Assume what you publish on the Web is permanent. Anyone on the Internet can easily print out a blog or save it to a computer.
(4.) Use blogging provider sites with clearly stated terms of use, and make sure they can protect the actual blogs, not just the user accounts, with password protection. (Even so, it's better to assume anyone can see it.)
(5.) Avoid trying to "outdo" or compete with other bloggers.
(6.) Keep blogs positive and don't use them for slander or to attack others.

February Roundup
Thanks to The Mommy Project blog -- http://themommyproject.blogspot.com/ -- for the reminder to do a monthly roundup.
For some time I have done a very detailed roundup based on the roundup Katie The Scrapbook Lady (click on the title to go to Katie's round up) does.
I like the brief version The Mommy Project suggested(when I get too busy or just plain forget to do Katie's roundup).
This month I am into...
The Thing I've Been Working on Most:
Going through my Favorites folder on the computer, updating, deleting, and adding favorites to this long list. I now have over 100 folders that are now all organized. The other big project for February was getting the remainder of the Christmas decorations packed up and put into the basement. Big job when you are a Christmas fanatic like me.
TV Show I Used To Love But Now Hate and Refuse To Watch Ever Again:
I cannot think of answer to this.
TV Show I Sometimes Hate But Really Like This Year:
Again, I don't have a show that fits into that category. I won't waste my time watching a show that I don't like.
The CD I Can't Stop Listening To:
I Can Only Imagine, 2 CD set, Christian music by various artists.
My Favorite Blog Entry This Month:
It has not been posted yet. But I am working on a new 100 list -- 100 Facts about Me in honor of my 100th post.
Blog I am Always Visiting:
5 Minutes for Mom at http://www.5minutesformom.com/ and
Absolutely Bananas at http://www.absolutelybananas.com/.
What I am Looking Forward to Next Month: Spring if it ever decides to show it's beauty.
